The Astra SPX is the former name of what is now the Gulfstream G100. Even with the name change, the Astra Jet SPX is still one of the most sought after jets in its class for its combination of range, speed, interior comfort, and technologically advanced features.
The cabin at 375 cubic feet may not be the largest but the way it was designed makes good use of every space available. This results to a good looking and spacious interior. The default seating configuration seats six people in a club-and-a-half seating arrangement. But, with every space optimized, the Astra SPC can accommodate up to nine passengers. The jet features a full-width lavatory and a forward galley. It also has a skylight window.
The Astra SPX was designed to be more efficient than its predecessors hence the design of its winglets. The overall design of the fuselage allows the jet to gently glide through the air current but doing it at n a breakneck speed. The aerodynamic design of its nose and wings also reduces noise from vibration. Also, reducing vibration limits the risk of damage to parts making this jet one of the most reliable in its class.
Two AlliedSignal TFE 731-40-200G turbofans power this jet by producing 4,250 pounds of thrust. That much power allows the jet to reach its maximum speed of 472 knots. Its cruising speed is set at 460 knots. The powerful engines are also mounted to minimize vibration and noise keeping the cabin perfectly comfortable.
